Acuity + Venmo setup for cleaners

Lots of cleaning clients already pay by Venmo or check. Acuity can take Venmo at booking, but only through PayPal.

How it works

Setup steps

  1. In Acuity, open the Payments panel and connect PayPal. If it's an old connection, reconnect to get the update (source).
  2. Decide on a deposit for first-time and move-out cleans.
  3. Turn on tips.
  4. Book a test appointment on your own phone and pay with Venmo.

Limits to know

  • With PayPal you can't store cards to charge later, sell subscriptions or take in-person payments (source). Pair PayPal with Stripe or Square if you need those.
  • PayPal's processing fees apply. Check PayPal's current rates.
  • Venmo paid to your personal account outside Acuity isn't tracked in Acuity. Keep a ledger that matches each payment to a job.

Still taking checks?

Mark the appointment paid when the check clears, and keep the same ledger. Our payments ledger kit (outline) covers matching Venmo notes to invoices.
